Each Way Bet Calculator

When you’re placing an each way bet, it is considered easier to see it as two separate bets. The first bet is on a winning outcome, while the second bet is on a placement – i.e. a horse or team placing in the top three. To make an each way bet, you should know the betting odds, the number of places and the each way fraction. The betting odds are useful to know how likely an event is to happen, and how much money you would win. The number of places will help you make your second bet. Finally, the odds on the placement part of the bet are calculated as a fraction of the odds in the winning selection – ½, ⅓, ¼, etc.

If your team or horse wins the match or race, then both bets will win. The total winnings can be worked out by adding both bets’ winnings together. If the team or horse doesn’t win, but does place, then while the first bet will lose, the second one will win. To calculate the winnings, take the original odds and apply the each way fraction. If the horse or team doesn’t win or place, then both bets will lose.

Many punters will go for each way betting, as this strategy leads to higher chances of winning. If there is an event where the price is long for each selection, it can be hard to predict the winner, but the benefit is that these odds prove favourable even after applying the fraction. As a result, this method of betting is seen by some as a low-risk, low-gain approach.

The downside to each way betting is that the stake is doubled, which could result in the bettor losing money. The fraction is also a consideration – if the odds are low before the fraction is applied, the potential winnings could be pretty low if only your second bet wins.

It is possible to use an each-way bet on an accumulator, as when you place an each-way multiple, there will be two multiples involved. One bets that all of the wins will come in, and the other bets that all the place bets will come in. As a result, an each-way accumulator is known for being incredibly hard to pull off – but if you do, the rewards are huge.
