Lucky 15 Bet
What does Lucky 15 mean in betting?
The Lucky Bets consist of a Lucky 15, Lucky 31 and Lucky 63. Each of these bets is made up of various accumulators meaning that if one selection lets you down you can still win. These types of bets are very popular amongst punters who like to bet on the horse racing and contain a mixture of singles, doubles, trebles and four-fold accumulators.
What is a Lucky 15 bet?
Essentially the 15 means that the whole bet consists of 15 bets across four selections. This is made up of 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and a four-fold accumulator. The lucky comes from the view that these types of bets are usually subject to what are called ‘bookmaker bonuses’. The bonuses that you’ll come across include a winner bonus, a loser bonus and a one winner consolation bonus. Typically these bonuses will be represented either as increased odds on your selections or a bigger percentage return on your initial stake. However these bonuses can vary from bookmaker to bookmaker so it is always worth checking
An example of a Lucky 15 Bet
A simple example of a Lucky 15 bet would be the following:
Four selections: Liverpool FC to Win, Manchester United to Win, Wigan to Win, Celtic to Win.
The four singles would be for each of the teams to win returning the individual odds.
The six doubles would be Liverpool/Manchester, Wigan/Celtic, Liverpool/Wigan, Manchester/Wigan, Liverpool/Celtic, and Manchester/Celtic.
The four trebles would be Liverpool/Manchester/Celtic, Liverpool/Manchester/Wigan, Manchester/Celtic/Wigan and Liverpool/Celtic/Wigan.
Finally the four-fold accumulator would be Liverpool/Manchester/Wigan/Celtic all to win.
How does a Lucky 15 bet work each way?
You can also do a Lucky 15 each-way. This means that your stake is usually doubled, for example if you had £4 on the Lucky 15 to win, it would be £8 for each-way. This means that you’re putting a stake on the win and a stake on the place. This is common when punters are placing Lucky 15 horse racing bets as opposed to other sports. The odds you get for each way varies from bookmaker to bookmaker. An example would be that they are paying for the top 5 places and you’ll get a 1/5 of the original odds on the horse if it does indeed place.
What are the advantages of making a Lucky 15 bet?
The main advantages of placing a Lucky 15 bet are that not all of your four selections have to win. If one team or a horse lets you down for example, you can still get a return as you have four trebles left to run still. On top of this even if three out of four selections let you down, you have the singles bets however compared to the initial cost of the Lucky 15 this typically comes in at a loss, but it is a return never the less.
