Camp Nou

Punter's Pick

Despite the two teams playing out a 0-0 draw first time around, Barcelona are overwhelming favourites given their pedigree in this competition and their form coming in to the game. Lyon will set up to contain the Catalans first up, but with the firepower up front it is likely that Barcelona will score a few goals in front of their own fans. Bet365 are offering 8/13 for a -1 goal handicap, meaning Barcelona need to win by two goals or more. If you fancy Lyon to produce something similar, then a +3 goals is generously priced at 1/2 with the same bookmaker.

Barcelona welcome Lyon to the Camp Nou after the French side managed to secure an unlikely 0-0 at home to leave their illustrious opponents a little nervous ahead of the return leg. Barcelona managed to dominate possession in the first leg and despite starting the game with Messi, Suarez and Dembele couldn’t find the breakthrough. Lyon certainly have enough attacking flair to trouble the home side and score the away goal which could leave the Catalans chasing the game.

Barcelona come in to this game having won all four fixtures since their 0-0 deadlock in France, including back to back wins against arch rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona were emphatic in winning 3-0 at the Bernabeu in the cup, with two goals from Luis Suarez getting them to the final. They managed to repeat the trick in the league, with a sole goal from Ivan Rakitic enough for all three points. This has enabled them to open up a seven point gap at the top and ensure they are bang in form leading in to this fixture.

Lyon have been something of a mixed bag this season, enjoying an unbeaten run during the Champions League group phase, in which they incredibly registered five draws out of six games. This did however include a victory away at Manchester City and a draw in the reverse fixture. They are also the only team to have beaten PSG in the league this season, where goals from Moussa Dembele and Nabil Fekir won the points. But regular patches of draws and losses have hindered their attempts at securing second place, including a 2-2 with Strasbourg last time out, despite leading 2-0.

In team news, Barcelona have concerns over Ousmane Dembele. The winger suffered a slight hamstring in their last league game and will likely not recover in time for this game. Rafinha continues to be a long-term absentee and Thomas Vermaelen is also likely to be out. This could lead to Barca starting with Luis Suarez, Messi and Coutinho up front, with Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Sergio Busquets forming the trio just behind them.

Lyon still have doubts over club captain Marcelo, with the Brazilian seemingly picking up a leg injury in the tie against Strasbourg. They will however be boosted by the return of Nabil Fekir from suspension and a return to the starting lineup for Memphis Depay. This will boost their attacking prowess and an all-important away goal could be the deciding factor come the end of the game.
