The New Den

Punter's Pick

Brighton are a generous 23/20 to win in 90 minutes with Bet365, and given Millwall’s selection headaches, the Premier League side look excellent value at these odds. Glenn Murray looks the man most likely to get to grips with Millwall’s physicality, and can be backed at 4/1 to open the scoring for the visitors, again with Bet365.

Giant Killers Millwall welcome Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion to the New Den as they seek to add another top flight victim to their recent FA Cup exploits.

Can struggling Millwall pull off another shock?

Languishing in nineteenth position in the Championship, struggling Millwall are embroiled in a relegation battle, currently sitting just one point outside the relegation places. With just nine league games to go in the Championship, there is still the remarkable possibility of a team being relegated to League One but ending up in the FA Cup final come the 18th of May. Millwall go into this game having at least snapped a run of disastrous results. Their 2-0 win on Wednesday against Birmingham City ended a run of four straight defeats, a sequence that has pushed them closer and closer to the relegation trapdoor.

However in the FA Cup it has been a different matter entirely for the Lions in recent years – Everton have been dispatched 3-2 at the New Den in an earlier round, and the likes of Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester City have also been sent packing from the competition in recent seasons. Millwall will certainly not fear the challenge of Brighton, and despite their league woes, they always seem to come alive when a Premier League team is in town.

Brighton easing safety

The visitors to the New Den have had their own mini crisis to come through recently. A disappointing spell of form either site of Christmas pushed Brighton to within a point of the relegation places in recent weeks, before back to back wins have least given them some breathing space and a cushion of five points from the dropzone.

Their 2-1 win over rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last time out would have particularly pleased manager Chris Hughton, as they overcame an intimidating atmosphere to claim all three points. This was only their third away win of the season in the Premier League, and it came as a timely boost, with the Seagulls expecting to face up to a similarly hostile atmosphere on Sunday.
Team News

Millwall have potential problems in midfield and attack, with leading scorer Lee Gregory coming off at half-time against Birmingham City with a calf injury. His potential absence would be a massive blow and leaves a big hole, with no other Millwall player in double figures so far this season. Definitely ruled out are Ben Thompson, who scored both goals against Birmingham, but is cup-tied, and Ben Marshall who is also similarly ineligible. Also absent is Scottish defender Murray Wallace who is suspended.

For Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma is banned after picking up successive bookings in the last two rounds, whilst Florin Andone and Pascal Gross are both ruled out by injuries. Defender Leon Balogun is available again after missing the last five games with a shoulder injury.

Millwall run at an end?

The last five Premier League sides to visit the New Den have all left empty handed and humbled, but with mounting injury, ineligibility and suspension problems this may be one game too far for the hosts. Coupled with Brighton having a clear week to prepare whilst Millwall were playing midweek means the Premier League side will be fresher and raring to go. Manager Chris Hughton is likely to play a strong side and their top flight class should tell as they seek a rare FA Cup Semi-Final appearance.
