Villa Park

Punter's Pick

Leciester start this game as favorites but are still being given a generous 4/5 price by Bet365. We feel Villa have enough to get something out of this game, especially at home and feel there is value in the Double Chance market priced at 10/11, with the bet coming in if Villa can avoid defeat. We also think this will be a combative affair and will be backing the over 3.5 cards market priced at 10/11.

Aston Villa welcome Leicester City to Villa Park in an intriguing encounter between two midland clubs fighting at opposite ends of the table. Villa have started to turn their form around as they adjust to life in the Premier League whilst Leicester are having an unexpected tilt at the title. Will Leicester be closer to Liverpool by the end of the game or will Villa put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone?

Aston Villa start this game just one point above the relegation zone but will be boosted by recent performances where they have gained points or matched their opponents well. An impressive 2-0 win over Newcastle was followed up by an excellent performance away at Manchester United, where the team took the lead through a wonder strike from Jack Grealish. Despite having their lead overturned, the Villans kept battling and secured a point at Old Trafford courtesy of a Tyrone Mings strike. Captain Grealish has certainly been the talisman often carrying the ball forward and instigating many of Villa’s attacks. They were unlucky not to get something from the game against Chelsea where Trezeguet helped cancel out a Tammy Abraham strike, before Mason Mount scored the winner. The fact that Villa are competing in such games bodes well for the remainder of the campaign and the manager will be confident he can secure top flight football for next season.

Leicester City have continued to defy the odds in maintaining their excellent campaign, much like their title winning season under Claudio Ranieri. The team has now won seven league games in a row and ten out of their last 11 with the only defeat in that period coming against leaders Liverpool. Much has been down to the form of Jamie Vardy who was rejuvenated when Brendan Rodgers took over and has taken it to another level this season. The former England international has now hit seven goals in a row and leads the scorers charts. The overall balance and dynamic of the team has also been impressive as Johnny Evans and Soyuncu provide a solid base in defence with the full backs Chilwell and Pereira bombing on and supporting the frontmen. Leicester have a run of very winnable games and will want to maintain their form before a key clash against champions Manchester City on the 21st December.

In team news Aston Villa will have Frederic Guilbert available having served his suspension against Chelsea. Anwar El Ghazi is battling to be fit for this one but they will be without Jed Steer and Keinan Davis.

Leicester City will be boosted by the news that Ben Chilwell is available having recovered from the knock that kept him out against Watford. Demarai Gray is the only injury concern for Rodgers who has a near full squad to choose from.

These two have not played each other for a few years, therefore there are no recent meetings to determine what the potential pattern of play will be based on recent history. The teams last met in the 2015/16 where Leicester won 3-2 at home before a 1-1 stalemate at Villa Park. Jamie Vardy and Jack Grealish were both part of their teams during the 3-2 game and both got on the scoresheet.
