Vitality Stadium

Punter's Pick

Picking a winner in this game is tricky as the overall form of both teams coming in to this fixture has been poor. There may be more value in other markets such as backing under 3.5 cards at 5/6 with Bet365. The game is usually played in great spirit between these teams with just four cards issued in their last four games. The corner count is also usually high and backing over 9 at 4/7 offers good value.

Bournemouth host Burnley at the Vitality Stadium with the home team struggling for form and Burnley still not clear of relegation. Both managers will be looking to get back to winning ways in the final stretch of the season.

Bournemouth come in to this game having won just one of their last eight league fixtures including losses to lowly Cardiff and a 2-0 defeat to Leicester last time out. This has hampered their chances of a top ten finish, however this could still be achieved if they are able to put together a run towards the back-end of the season.

Burnley on the other hand are still looking over their shoulders to ensure they don’t get sucked back into the relegation battle. They are only five points clear of Cardiff with six games to go and the run they have been on could see them drift back down. The Clarets lost four games on the bounce before breaking that run with a 2-0 victory over Wolves last time out. The team in fact had a good run where they managed to draw with Manchester United and beat Tottenham, but a loss in the proverbial six-pointer against Newcastle triggered their poor run of form. Sean Dyche will be looking to their last performance to inspire the team to push on and secure their Premier League status.

In team news, Eddie Howe will be hoping that Adam Smith will be available having sat out the last four weeks with a thigh strain. It is likely that he will start again with the front three of Ryan Fraser, Josh King and England international Callum Wilson with a view to taking it to Burnley as the home team. Steve Cook, Andrew Surman, Simon Francis and Lewis Cook however are all out with injury.

Sean Dyche doesn’t have any fresh injury concerns from the last game and is likely to go with the same 11 that got three points against Wolves. The Clarets are still without Steven Defour and Aaron Lennon but will be looking to Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood to out-muscle the Bournemouth defenders and bring their midfielders in to the game.

Burnley have just shaved the encounters between the two in recent times, winning two out of their last three. This includes the reverse fixture earlier in the season where the Clarets comfortably won 4-0 courtesy of goals from Matej Vydra, Aaron Lennon and a brace from Ashley Barnes.Sean Dyche will take comfort from the fact that his team did win away at Bournemouth last season which will put them in good shape to get something out of this game.
