Vitality Stadium

Punter's Pick

Burnley are a reasonable looking 2/1 to pick up all three points with Betfair, and given their excellent recent record against Bournemouth they should be backed at this price. Chris Wood continues to pop up with vital contributions for Burnley, and is good value at 7/4 to score anytime with Bet365.

Bournemouth play host to Burnley on Saturday afternoon at the Vitality Stadium, with both sides looking to record back to back wins as they look to ease further clear of being sucked into a relegation battle.

Bournemouth stop the rot with deserved win

Prior to their visit to Stamford Bridge last weekend, Eddie Howe’s team were in freefall, losing five straight Premier League fixtures for the first time to leave them hovering precariously close to the relegation zone. A trip to Stamford Bridge may not have been an ideal fixture to break that cycle, but there is something about playing the Blues in their own back garden that seems to raise Bournemouth’s performance levels, and they duly recorded their third away win against the Blues since returning to the top flight of English football. The challenge will now be to string together a run of consistent results to move back into the security of mid-table, as the Cherries still only sit four points outside the relegation places before the start of the weekend fixtures.

Burnley arrest decline of their own

Like Bournemouth, Burnley have endured a tough run of results themselves which has seen them slip into the bottom half of the table, and the visit of an in-form Newcastle side last weekend was not the ideal fixture to snap a run of three straight defeats. However Sean Dyche’s men ground out a morale boosting 1-0 win courtesy of a Chris Wood strike. The striker has now scored seven times in the Premier League so far this season, accounting for almost a third of all goals the Clarets have managed.

Team News

Bournemouth still continue to suffer with major injury problems, with the likes of Nathan Ake, Adam Smith, Steve Cook, Harry Wilson, Charlie Daniels and Lloyd Kelly all unavailable for selection this weekend.Callum Wilson could overcome a thigh problem and make the starting XI, although Eddie Howe may opt to go with the same team that started and overcame Chelsea last weekend.

Burnley are still with Icelandic midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson is still with a thigh problem, while Charlie Taylor, Kevin Long and Ben Gibson are all likely to be missing. Like Eddie Howe Burnley manager Sean Dyche may opt for the same starting XI that overcame Newcastle last weekend.

Tough ask for Cherries?

Despite turning a corner against Chelsea last weekend, the Cherries only have one win in their last twelve fixtures against Burnley, suggesting the weight of history is against them. With several key personnel still missing through injury, the home side will be up against it, although the Clarets have only won once on their travels so far this season. However with a more settled lineup and being back to winning ways, they should have enough to nick another three points.
