Vitality Stadium

Punter's Pick

Both managers are known for their attacking styles and we feel that this could be an open and entertaining encounter. With the players at Everton’s disposal, we feel that they are very well priced at 5/4 with Bet365 for the win. The firepower of Moise Kean, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Andre Gomes and Alex Iwobi is likely to be too much for a Bournemouth defence which has failed to secure a clean sheet in the league thus far. With both teams better in the final third than defence, we feel there is also value in backing over 2.5 goals at 8/11 with the same bookmaker.

Bournemouth welcome Everton to the Vitality Stadium with the home side desperate to get their first home win of the season. Everton are also yet to win on the road in the league and both managers will want to gain some momentum after the international break.

Bournemouth got off to a good start drawing their opening game against Sheffield United and then beating Aston Villa away. Since then they lost two games on the bounce with 3-1 score lines against champions Manchester City and Leicester City. The Cherries have a series of games against teams in and around them in the league and they will need to make home advantage count to ensure they don’t get dragged into a relegation fight. Despite some notable attacking options, Eddie Howe’s team have struggled for goals thus far and needed a penalty shootout win against League Two opposition Forest Green, despite starting with Callum Wilson, Jordan Ibe and Dominic Solanke. How he gets service up to his frontment will be key as the team currently aren’t creating the chances to score goals in matches.

Everton come into this game on the back of a late win against Wolves. The Toffee’s twice surrendered their lead to give Wolves a chance of snatching a draw only for Brazilian Richarlison to spare their blushes with an 80th minute winner. Despite some heavy investment, Marco Silva still hasn’t managed to get his team playing at their fluent best and he will be looking for more consistency from his star players. Summer signings Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean started the last game and getting the right balance between defensive options in midfield as well as supplying the ammunition for the strikers is also the balance Silva has to strike.

In team news, Bournemouth will make a late decision on whether to play Lewis Cook, who has been out of action since he got injured back in December. Defenders Lloyd Kelly and Simon Francis are also back in training but this game is likely to come too soon for the defensive duo. Callum Wilson is likely to lead the line up front with Josh King, with Ryan Fraser providing the creative spark from behind.

Everton’s summers signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin is still out with a thigh injury but Marco Silva hasn’t reported other injury concerns so will have a strong complement to choose from. It will be interesting to see if he keeps faith with Moise Kean or brings back Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but more will be expected from his flair players in Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes.

In recent meetings, Everton have just shaded the exchanges, securing a 2-2 draw at the VItality last season and then winning 2-0 at Goodison Park courtesy of goals from Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The first game incredibly saw both Adam Smith and Richarlison sent off for separate incidents and both teams will be hoping to keep their players cool ahead of this one.
