Punter's Pick

Burnley are a big 4/1 to win and both sides to score with Bet365, and at these generous odds they are worth backing to pick up all three points. Palace also look good value at 3/1 with Bet365 to get a draw with the benefit of a +1 goal handicap.

Crystal Palace’s run of tricky fixtures continues as they take on a revitalized Burnley side looking for their third league win in a row on Saturday afternoon.

Eagles enduring difficult period

Only a few weeks ago Palace were riding high in the top six of the Premier League after a superb start to the season. However their form has tailed off badly in recent times, with four defeats in their last five league games, a period in which they have picked up just a solitary point.

That run of poor results has coincided with having to play Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, so manager Roy Hodgson will still not be too concerned just yet over their winless streak. However goals continue to be hard to come by for the Eagles – with just eleven scored so far this season only Watford with eight goals have a worse goalscoring record in the top flight.

Burnley back on track

Palace’s opponents on Saturday have put behind them a miserable run of their own and forged back to back 3-0 victories as they look to reassert to their top ten credentials. A resounding 3-0 win over bottom club Watford last weekend backed up an equally impressive 3-0 win at home against West Ham the previous week, halting a run of three straight league defeats.

Whereas the Eagles have been struggling for goals, Burnley have two quality strikers to call upon – both Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes have notched up six goals each so far this campaign, more than Palace have managed to muster up between themselves. Impressively, the Clarets have scored more goals than more illustrious sides like Arsenal and Manchester United so far this season, showing their is some quality to go with their undoubted workrate and commitment.

Team News

Sean Dyche will be forced into one change for the home side, with full back Ashley Westwood missing out through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards. Elsewhere fringe players Danny Drinkwater and Matej Vydra are also missing through injury.

For the Eagles Joel Ward limped off in the 2-1 loss against Liverpool last weekend and is rated doubtful, with Martin Kelly on standby to replace him at full back. Manager Roy Hodgson is unlikely to make too many other changes with his side unlucky in losing to the league leaders.

Repeat performance unlikely for Eagles

In the corresponding fixture last season, the Eagles romped to an impressive 3-1 victory as they took advantage of some generous Burnley defending to run out easy winners. However with the home side in good form going into this fixture, Palace would be more than happy with a point to end a run of three successive defeats, a sequence which has seen them fall into the bottom half of the table.
