Stamford Bridge

Punter's Pick

Although West Ham are more than capable of getting something from this game, it is hard to look beyond a Chelsea victory at home. This game has featured corners previously and Bet365 are offering 4/6 for over 9 to be registered. But with this game not likely to be a high-scoring affair, 8/13 is a good price for under 3.5 goals with the same bookmaker.

Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge in a London derby they need to win in order to maintain their push for a Champions League place. West Ham will want to finish in the top half of the table in a season where they were threatened with relegation before getting the desired results to keep them away from the bottom three.

Chelsea come into this game having lost just once in their last 10 games in all competitions. Despite this, the crowd seem to have turned on manager Maurizio Sarri with less than flattering chants towards the manager in their 2-1 away win against Cardiff. But Sarri has managed to keep the team in the hunt for a top four spot throughout the season as well as seeing the team progress to the latter stages of the Europa League and Carabao Cup Final. But an insistence on playing Jorginho when the Italian had clearly been struggling has been a cause of friction for fans as well as not starting with wonderkid Hudson-Odoi until the last game, which they subsequently won 3-0. The Blues however will need to come together for the final run in as a Champions League spot will be crucial in attracting the top talent for next season.

West Ham have been good and bad in equal measure with three wins and three losses in their last six games. Their home form has been good with three victories in their last four games but they have not won on the road this year. Their last win came at the back-end of December in a 2-1 win over Southampton courtesy of a Felipe Anderson brace. Goals have been an issue for the Hammers and this issue was compounded by the transfer saga over their star man Marko Arnautovic. He has started some games but is yet to recapture his form or the hearts of fans since being reintegrated into the team.

In team news, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be pushing for another start having impressed in the 3-0 win over Brighton scoring a goal in the process. He was also the hero in their prior game, coming off the bench to secure a 2-1 reversal over Cardiff away. It will be interesting to see if Sarri starts again with Hudson-Odoi and whether he decides to rest star man Eden Hazard prior to their Europa League clash. Marcos Alonso could be in contention having recovered from injury as well as a potential spot for Pedro who has also recovered from injury.

West Ham could welcome back Felipe Anderson, Samir Nasri and Ryan Fredericks, whilst Declan Rice will again be keen to show Chelsea what they are missing having previously been a youth player with the Blues. Pellegrini may also look to reinstate Javier Hernandez who has been in decent goalscoring form and could be a better option to stretch the Blues defence.

Games between these two teams have been tight affairs in recent years. The last two games have been stalemates with the game earlier in the season finishing 0-0. The Hammers however did enjoy a 1-0 win over Chelsea last season, showcasing how difficult they have been for Chelsea to beat. In fact neither team has scored three goals or more in these fixtures for nearly five years and this fixture is likely to be a close encounter again.
