Selhurst Park

Punter's Pick

Liverpool start this game as strong favourites and there is little value in backing an outright win. With the likes of Mo Salah and Andy Robertson likely to miss this game, Liverpool’s threat could be significantly reduced and there may be some value in backing under 2.5 goals at 6/5 with Bet365. Games between these two also produce a high corner count and backing over 10 at 11/10 with the same bookmaker also represents good value.

Crystal Palace welcome league leaders Liverpool to Selhurst Park in a game which could be a potential banana skin for the Reds. Crystal Palace have excelled against the big teams and Roy Hodgson will be keen to mastermind a famous win over his former employers.

Despite starting the season well, Crystal Palace are suffering some indifferent form of late and are winless in their last four fixtures. This run has included three losses at the hands of Manchester City, Leicester City and Chelsea, with a draw against Arsenal in between. Roy Hodgson will certainly have easier fixture lists than his recent games and will be pleased that they provided stiff competition against all the big teams. City struggled to break them down in the first period before two quick-fire goals from Jesus and David Silva and it was a similar story at Chelsea where they also held out in the first period. Overcoming a 2-0 deficit to claim a point against Arsenal was a good effort and Hodgson will feel his team can kick on towards the festive period and beyond, especially as he will games against teams in and around them in the league.

Liverpool come into this game off the back of their proverbial six-pointer against champions Manchester City, whom they beat 3-1 at Anfield. The Reds dominated the first half and went ahead via a long range effort from Fabinho before an amazing cross from Andy Robertson was converted by an on-rushing Mo Salah. Sadio Mane made it 3-0 before a late Bernardo Silva strike salvaged some pride for the champions. Manager Jurgen Klopp will be wary of complacency in his team as the team held a similar lead over the pack last season only for City to claw their way back. This win over their rivals signals a big step and the team have now played most of the big teams in the first half of Premier League fixtures. But teams like Palace have the players to hurt any team and at Selhurst Park it may be a game in which the leaders need to exercise more patience as space will be at a premium.

In team news, Crystal Palace will be sweating on the fitness of Wilfried Zaha who suffered a foot injury against Chelsea. Joel Ward will also be assessed having suffered a groin strain.

For Liverpool, Mo Salah and Andy Robertson could both miss the game due to their respective ankle injuries. Joel Matip is also out but Xherdan Shaqiri could be an option having been out for a few months as well a Joe Gomez, who had pulled out during England duty but is expected to be fit.

In recent years these two have had some close encounters but Liverpool have typically dominated the results. The Reds won both games last season with James Milner and Sadio Mane scoring in a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park, before a thrilling game at Anfield saw them win 4-3.
