Selhurst Park

Punter's Pick

Callum Wilson has scored six times in his last six appearances against West Ham, and can be backed at 9/2 with Bet365 to open the scoring and also score in four consecutive Premier League games for the first time as well. Sebastien Haller should prove a real thorn in Bournemouth’s defence and can be backed to score anytime at 7/5, again with Bet365.

Goal shy Crystal Palace take on inconsistent but entertaining Norwich City in the type of fixture both sides will be eyeing three points from.

Palace in need of inspiration

With just four goals scored in their first half a dozen league games, entertainment has been in short supply at Selhurst Park, where vocal fans continue to back their misfiring side passionately. The situation is slightly alleviated by the fact that Roy Hodgson’s side look well drilled at the back, having conceded only seven goals so far this campaign.

The main problem seems to stem from the lack of goals and assists so far this season from Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke. The latter seems completely devoid of confidence and looks a shadow of the player that was regularly finding the net in his first few seasons in the Premier League with Aston Villa. With Zaha struggling to recapture his form of last season after the summer transfer saga, Palace look dangerously undermanned in the attacking third.

Norwich keep battling on

Despite a whole host of short and long term injuries plaguing the team since they got promoted, manager Daniel Farke has retained a cheerful disposition, something which is reflected in the energetic and exciting manner in which his team approaches games. With Teemu Pukki providing goals upfront (six so far this season), they at least have something Palace do not currently possess, and one of the vital ingredients for a newly promoted club to stay up.

However fourteen goals conceded in just six games tell its own story, and suggests the injuries to key defenders or lack of Premier League experience may be an insurmountable problem, or it may require remediation work in the January transfer window.

Team News

Crystal Palace are assessing Mamadou Sakho’s fitness after the defender picked up a muscle strain in training. Star forward Wilfried Zaha is also a slight doubt with a foot injury picked up in the 1-1 draw with Wolve last weekend. Forward Connor Wickham returned to first-team training this week after his latest injury but is unlikely to be ris

Norwich’s lengthy injury list continues to worsen, now extended to include goalkeeper Tim Krul and captain Alex Tettey. Defender Max Aarons has recovered from an ankle injury sooner than anticipated and may be pressed back into action, but Ralf Fahrmann is rated doubtful with Onel Hernandez, Timm Klose, Mario Vrancic, Tom Trybull and Christoph Zimmermann all still on the sidelines.

Goal shy Palace should have enough

Despite their lack of goals and potential injury doubt over key forward Wilfried Zaha, they will still fancy their chances of overcoming a Norwich side with both a leaky defence and a long list of injuries. Norwich’s best form of defence may be attack, which should lead to an open encounter with opportunities at both ends of the pitch.
