Selhurst Park

Punter's Pick

Both these teams have have been a little inconsistent in recent games and the emphasis may be on getting something out of the game rather than any one team pressing too aggressively for the win. The reverse fixture saw Sheffield United win 1-0 and we expect a similarly tight affair. Both teams can be combative and backing the over 3.5 cards market at 5/6 with Bet365 looks like good value. A cheeky punt on Sheffield United to bag all three points could also be backed at 6/4 and it certainly wouldn’t be beyond the Blades to complete the double over their opponents.

Crystal Palace welcome Sheffield United to Selhurst Park in a game between two teams who sit comfortably in mid-table. Just three points separate the two but both managers will be keen to get the three points and push towards the magical 40 points mark as there is still a risk a poor run of form could pull either into a relegation battle.

Crystal Palace come into this game having not won in their last six outings in all competitions. The team have proven to be solid if not spectacular registering four draws and a loss in their last five league games and Roy Hodgson will be keen for his team to add a little composure up front to help turn some of their draws into wins. The team certainly will be buoyed by some of their performances which have included a 1-1 result at home against Arsenal and then taking points off champions Manchester City again. Cenk Tosun actually gave the Eagles the lead in that game before a late double from Sergio Aguero seemed to have broken Palace hearts. But the team kept going and forced Fernandinho into a mistake which resulted in an own goal and a massive point for the team. Undoubtedly goals have been the issue and one win in their last ten games in all competitions tells its own story, but there is still enough firepower to push for the win in this one.

Sheffield United have had an excellent season having come up from the Championship in the summer and sit in 8th place. Despite being seven points off a Champions League spot, the side has started to stutter recently which will be a concern to Chris Wilder. The team have won just once in their last six outings in the league when a solitary goal from Oli McBurnie gave them a 1-0 win over West Ham. But most of their recent results have been against the big teams having played Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool since the turn of the year. The team has actually performed well in all of their games and their attacking style has impressed fans and pundits alike. The club record-signing of Sander Berge from Genk shows that the team are now appealing to promising players and they could be well set for the second half of the season.

In team news Crystal Palace will look to welcome back Luka Milivojevic who has been out due to suspension. Christian Benteke will also undergo a fitness test but may miss out regardless given his poor form and the impressive start made by Cenk Tosun. However Crystal Palace will be without Mamadou Sakho, Patrick van Aanholt and Andros Townsend who all remain injured
