Punter's Pick

West Ham are a generous 11/4 to win with Bet365, and should be given serious consideration at this current price. Alternatively a draw or West Ham win at ¾ with the same firm also merits attention, given Palace’s generally patchy home form. This should be a open free flowing London derby and over 2.5 goals at 21/10 with Betfair looks an interesting option.

The Eagles take on the Hammers in another feisty London Derby at Selhurst Park this weekend, with three points and local pride at stake.

Palace inching closer to safety

Palace have been mired in a relegation battle most of the season, not surprising given their lack of attacking resources until recently. A comfortable 2-0 victory over fellow relegation strugglers Fulham last time out leaves them four points clear of the drop zone and starting to slowly think about another campaign in the top flight. Remarkably this has been achieved despite having one of the worse PL home records so far this season. With just three wins and a total of twelve points collected at Selhurst Park so far this campaign, the Eagles have a home record that is not the envy of many, with only Southampton and doomed Huddersfield Town boasting worse records.

West Ham looking comfortable

Palace’s opponents by way of contrast, look relatively comfortable in midtable, and barring a late season collapse will be remaining in the Premier League for another season. An impressive 1-1 draw against then league leaders Liverpool showcased all that was good about them – a high tempo pace that unsettled the high flying Reds from the first minute to last. The Hammers will feel aggrieved not have taken all three points, but will have been highly encouraged by the performance which snapped a two game losing streak.

Team news
Crystal Palace will be without influential defender James Tomkins, with ex Hammer’s midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate also struggling to to be fit with an ankle problem. Injury prone Connor Wickham is definitely ruled out again, paving the way for Belgium strikers Christian Benteke and Michy Batshuayi to fight it out for potentially one striking berth available. Wilfred Zaha returns from suspension for now, having appealed against the additional one match added to his ban for being sent off against Southampton.

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to contend with after their clash with Liverpool, with Samir Nasri likely to still be absent with a calf problem. In more positive news star striker Marko Arnautovic should be available to start, although it remains to be seen if the Hammers will make any chances from the team that was so impressive on Monday.

Close one to call
The two sides have already played out a 3-2 thriller at the London Stadium earlier this season, with West Ham getting the better of their opponents that day with a Felipe Anderson inspired second half comeback. This match is likely to be just as tight, and with Palace’s weak home form and West Ham’s reasonable performances on their travels (four wins so far this season), they may fancy their chances of nicking all three points again.
