Stamford Bridge

Punter's Pick

Given the history of this game in recent times, it could be a good punt to go with Bet365 and their offer of 8/13 for over 2.5 goals in this game. The over 3.5 goals market also looks good value at 13/8, and with Bournemouth’s leaky defence and the return of Everton’s well rested strikeforce, this is a clash likely to deliver goals.

Everton welcome fellow midtablers Bournemouth to Goodison Park, with both teams looking to kickstart their quest for a top half finish. They enter this game neck and neck on 27 points, with both managers feeling they should be higher in the table had it not been for some missed opportunities.

Everton seem to have been derailed since their emotionally charged last minute loss against rivals Liverpool, leading to a winless run of 4 games thereafter. An impressive 5-1 victory away at Burnley seemed to have turned the tide, only for the Toffees to lose their next two before an expected FA Cup victory over Lincoln.

Bournemouth enter this game on the back of 2 wins in 13 including an FA Cup exit defeat to Brighton. Prior to that, Bournemouth had started the season on fire, losing only twice in their first 13 games in all competitions. However it has been a slippery slide for The Cherries ever since, with the team unable to stop the rot in defence, leading to them conceding at least 3 goals in each of their last 4 games.

Everton will be looking to make changes after their cup tie, with left-back Lucas DIgne expected to come back in to the starting lineup, alongside Andre Gomes and Richarlison. Marco Silva will be looking for them to provide the attacking impetus to get more goals, having lost their last two games by the odd goal and not finding the net themselves.

Eddie Howe on the other hand needs to tighten up his defence, which may happen by default as he is doubtful on many of his attacking options. Callum Wilson, Joshua King and Ryan Fraser are all injury concerns and having shipped out Jermain Defoe to Rangers, Bournemouth may have to adopt a more reserved approach at Everton compared to their naturally attacking style.

The game certainly should be an enjoyable one for the neutral as there have been at least 3 goals or more in their last 5 meetings. It has been even honours in that time as both teams have won 2 and lost 2, with their last meeting a 2-2 draw at The Vitality Stadium.
