King Power Stadium

Punter's Pick

Leicester City are starting this game as favourites and that is understandable given both the form of both teams and the well publicised issues at Arsenal with Xhaka and Ozil. Bet365 have the Foxes priced at 19/20 and we think this represents good value and should be backed for this game. The trend of the home team winning in the past two seasons in this fixture is also a good indication of how things could pan out and Arsenal have only won one away game all season which was on the opening day. We are also backing Jamie Vardy to score anytime at 4/5.

Leicester City welcome Arsenal to the King Power Stadium in a mouth-watering clash between two attacking teams looking to maintain their push for a top four finish. Leicester are having a season reminiscent of their title winning campaign with Arsenal struggling for form but still boasting enough attacking talent to beat anyone on their day. Can the Gunners halt Leicester’s run on Saturday evening?

Leicester City come into this game having lost just once in their last eight games in all competitions including seven victories. The solitary defeat in that time was to league leaders Liverpool and even then it was down to a last minute penalty converted by James Milner. Up until that point James Maddison had looked to gain a point for his team having cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener but the visitors were harshly denied in the views of various punters. Brendan Rodgers ensured his team didn’t lose focus and maintained their form to put four straight victories together after that defeat including their record breaking 9-0 away victory at Southampton, where Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy both bagged hat-tricks. This game will pose a big question as to how far Leicester have come and with the form of Vardy, Maddison and Tielemans they will believe that they can cement their grip on a top four place.

Arsenal have still not cleared their heads from the debacle involving then club captain Granit Xhaka, when the Swiss international was booed off by his own fans against Crystal Palace. Fans and pundits alike have questioned Unai Emery’s tactics and his ongoing decision to freeze out Mesut Ozil. The German playmaker was used in the thrilling 5-5 League Cup game against Liverpool and starred with assists and driving the team forward. This forced the Spaniard to bring him back to the starting lineup during their 1-1 draw against Wolves but it seems it was a decision he took begrudgingly. Reports this week have stated that Xhaka is set to lose the captaincy and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts when they take to the pitch on Saturday afternoon. Having won just once in their last six games there is increasing pressure on Emery to produce winning results and fans could be calling for his head if the team get turned over at the King Power Stadium.

In team news Leicester City have almost a fully fit squad to choose from. Matty James is the only absentee from a previous injury but he has stepped up his recovery after his Achilles surgery. Brendan Rodgers is likely to field much of the same team that beat Crystal Palace last time out, with Vardy leading the line and the likes of Ayoze Perez, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans looking to get up and support.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed that this game will have come too soon for Granit Xhaka who’s head isn’t in the right frame of mind to start. Dani Ceballos has also been ruled out having picked up a hamstring injury during their midweek game in the Europa League. This almost guarantees Mesut Ozil a starting berth, with Aubameyang and Lacazette both likely to lead the line to increase their goal threat.

In recent meetings between these two, honours have been equal in the past two seasons. The trend has been for the home team to win their games with Arsenal winning 3-1 last season through goals from Mesut Ozil and Aubameyang (2). Leicester responded by winning the reverse fixture 3-0 with Youri Tielemans scoring and Jamie Vardy bagging a brace.
