Punter's Pick

With two of the tightest defences in the Premier League going head to head, goals may be at a premium so go for 2.5 goals and under at 10/11 with Betfair. Burnley look an interesting 11/4 to secure a draw with the benefit of a +1 goal handicap with Bet365 and should be looked at seriously at this price.

Top four chasing Leicester City resume their campaign to upset the established Premier League order with the visit of an always tough as nails Burnley on Saturday.

Good test for top four credentials?

Currently occupying fourth spot in the league table despite a bitter and controversial 2-1 defeat in their last fixture against table topping Liverpool, the Foxes look to be in good shape to be genuine contenders for a shot at Champions League qualification. The visit of Burnley will present a good test of their credentials to muscle their way into the established top six and beyond. Sean Dyche’s side will be difficult to break down and will sit in deep, challenging Leicester to unlock their stubborn defence.

Whilst a point against a solid and reliable side like Burnley would not have been the worse result in the previous few seasons, the Foxes are now at the stage where if they are genuine contenders for the top four, they simply cannot afford to drop points against mid-table sides. The raised level of expectations will bring with it new pressure this season, and it will be interesting to see how Leicester approach these sort of games and what results they can achieve in their pursuit of a top four slot.

Burnley enjoying a good spell

Unbeaten in their last four league games, Burnley are suddenly enjoying a decent spell of form as well, and ironically enough a win against Leicester coupled with other results going their way could even see them climb into the top four themselves this weekend. Whilst manager Sean Dyche will not be seriously contemplating trips to the Camp Nou and San Siro just yet, a chance to battle for a Europa League position is certainly not beyond them if they continue their current rich vein of form into Christmas and beyond.

At the heart of Burnley’s success has been one of the tightest defences in the top flight. With just nine goals conceded so far this season, Burnley rank amongst one of the meanest defences in the top flight, with only a handful of sides such as the likes of Liverpool and Saturday’s opponents Leicester able to boast a meaner rearguard.

Team News

Leicester’s James Maddison has got over the flu that caused his withdrawal from the England squad last week and will available to take his place. It is unclear if fellow midfielder Dennis Praet, who remained in Belgium after international duty for personal reasons, will also be available.

Burnley’s Johann Berg Gudmundsson, who only just recently returned from injury, faces several weeks out after suffering a hamstring injury whilst playing for Iceland. Erik Pieters has overcome an ankle problem but Jack Cork and Ashley Barnes, are carrying knocks and will be assessed.
On-loan midfielder Danny Drinkwater definitely remains out with an ankle injury.
Foxes to get the job done

Despite Burnley’s good run of form, they have only kept one clean sheet in their last sixteen Premier League away fixtures, a run which includes just one solitary win in the last nine of those away games. They have also failed to win at Leicester in their last eight trips, and with the Foxes looking in good form despite their 2-1 defeat at Liverpool last season, they should have class and quality to overcome their stubborn opponents.
