Punter's Pick

With Liverpool likely to dominate possession and needing to attack to keep up the pressure on City, will most likely bring the corners market into play. Bet365 are offering 5/6 for over 10 corners, which is a very generous price given that the last six games between these two have seen 11 corners or more in each game.

Liverpool face a tricky fixture against Burnley as The Clarets certainly aren’t pushovers despite some of their struggles this season. Liverpool will be hoping for a comprehensive victory after many flat displays resulting in draws. Burnley will be looking to fight for any points that can pull them away from their relegation fears, as they sit just five points off the drop zone.

At the turn of the year Liverpool were in a commanding position, holding a significant points lead over rivals Manchester City. However a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the champions triggered some shaky displays and in recent times the Reds have drawn five out of their last seven games in all competitions. Amazingly, they have only lost once in the league but now sit a point behind City who don’t look like dropping any points and will be even more determined having secured top spot. The mentality of the Liverpool players will be severely tested as they could go in to this fixture four points behind if City win their late game against Watford on Saturday.

Burnley on the other hand have had a disappointing season after their impressive campaign last year. Sean Dyche’s men have had many impressive displays where they have been unfortunate to walk away with just a point or lost them altogether. The team did however put together an amazing run in which they went eight games unbeaten in the league, registering five wins and three draws. Most notable of these was their 2-2 draw against Manchester United where they lead 2-0 until the final few minutes and a 2-1 home victory against Tottenham in a game that saw both Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes scoring.

The setup of the team is one which should trouble Liverpool who have struggled to be imaginative in the final third when coming up against dogged defences. With Wood and Barnes being the type of difficult and combative forwards defenders dread, set pieces will be of particular concern to Liverpool, who have struggled against the likes of Leicester and West Ham.

In team news it remains to be seen if Jurgen Klopp goes again with his more solid midfielders or looks to press for victory by inserting Xherdan Shaqiri or Naby Keita in to the starting lineup. The team have been accused of lacking imagination in the final third and being too reliant on the front three to conjure up some magic. The likes of Shaqiri can certainly pick a pass for the forward line, which will likely see Roberto Firmino brought back in to replace Divock Origi.

Burnley are likely to stick with much of the same team as in their last two games, despite losing to both Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
