Anfield

Punter's Pick

It is difficult to look beyond a Liverpool victory in this one and there is hardly any value in backing an outright win. Backing Liverpool against a corners handicap of -5 at 13/10 looks like good value with Bet365. Sadio Mane can also be backed to score anytime at 8/11 and the forward should get ample opportunities against a leaky backline.

Liverpool welcome bottom club Huddersfield to Anfield and continue their quest for the Premier League title. The Reds will return to the summit if they win their game here against a side that has already been relegated. Can Liverpool continue their impressive home form or can a side with nothing to lose spring a surprise?

Liverpool enter this game on an unbeaten run of 18 games in all competitions and will be confident of making it 19. The Reds have won nine in a row since their 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby and look on course to maintain pressure on Manchester City, who went top after their impressive victory over Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp will have to guard his players from complacency as Huddersfield can play attacking football, but the home team will feel that they could win this game even if they rested some key players with the Champions League in mind.

Huddersfield remain rooted to the foot of the table and come in to this game on the back of seven straight defeats. Fans would have hoped for better results when they secured a shock 1-0 win over Wolves, but the team have continued to slide and are now focussed on life in the Championship. Although they have little to play for personally, they are part of an exciting fixture which could have a massive impact on the title run-in and the manager will be hoping that this and the chance to play at Anfield could inspire his team.

In team news, Liverpool will give late fitness tests to Fabinho and Adam Lallana. Fabinho suffered a head injury in the win at Cardiff whilst Lallana has been out for the past five weeks. Klopp will be hoping that his side can settle the tie long before the 90 minutes are up so some of his players returning from injury can gain match sharpness and his regulars can be rested ahead of Barcelona.

For Huddersfield, Adama Diakhaby could be intention to play having recovered from a hamstring injury. One of their most recognisable players in Aaron Mooy remains a doubt whilst Laurent Depoitre remains sidelined. Jan Siewert may also look to bring Karlan Grant back in to the team, with the former Charlton Athletic forward scoring four goals since he arrived at the club.

Liverpool have dominated this fixture over the years, with Huddersfield last securing a victory back in 1959. Few will expect that to change on Friday night with the Reds at home and in sizzling form. Huddersfield will take some comfort from the reverse fixture in which Liverpool only managed to win the game 1-0, courtesy of Mo Salah. The Terrier’s may look to frustrate the Reds knowing that the longer the game goes on as a stalemate, the more their nerves may kick in and present opportunities.
