Bramall Lane

Punter's Pick

Manchester City start this game as overwhelming favourites and there is very little value in backing an outright win. The two teams have not faced each other in over three years so recent meetings cannot provide an indicator on outcome but the way both teams have started the season points to a City win. There are other markets which provide more value and one is backing over 10 corners at evens (1/1) with Bet365. Both teams like to attack and City will be particularly strong on the wings through Sterling, Mahrez and Silva. With the vast majority of the game likely to be played in Norwich’s half, this is a market that is likely to materialise. You can also back City with a -3 goal handicap at 7/4, meaning the champions need to win by four goals or more.

Norwich City host the champions Manchester City in an exciting fixture which brings together two teams that like to attack. Norwich have made an indifferent start to life back in the Premier League but have shown glimpses of their potential, whereas Manchester City have picked up where they left off last season and will be pushing to maintain pressure on Liverpool.

Despite a tough opening day loss to Liverpool, Norwich bounced back well by beating Newcastle 3-1 courtesy of a Teemu Pukki hattrick. The Finnish striker announced himself by scoring in all of their opening three games including against Chelsea but the team have lost their last three games in all competitions. There have certainly been signs that the team can turn their fortunes around with unit operating well when attacking their opponents. The obvious issue has been at the back where they are yet to keep a clean sheet and are conceding on average 2.5 goals in their four Premier League games thus far. Manager Daniel Farke can be forgiven for not believing that these stats are likely to change with the visit of Manchester City but is something he needs to address long term if they are to stay up this season.

Manchester City have been at their imperious best scoring 14 goals in their opening four Premier League games. Sergio Aguero helped himself to a brace against both Bournemouth and Brighton whom they beat 3-1 and 4-0 respectively and the Argentine is expected to lead the line again in place of Gabriel Jesus. The only concern facing Guardiola this season is the injuries that are now totting up with key players suffering long-term injuries. With the transfer window closed and former talisman and captain Vincent Kompany having left the club, the Spaniard will be looking for other leaders to see them through to the turn of the year.

In team news, Norwich have been hit by an increasing injury crisis. Up to eight players have been ruled out of this game with Tim Krul, Ben Godfrey and Grant Hanley also doubtful for the visit of City. A mixture of injuries and other reasons for unavailability means Norwich will be without Max Aarons, Christoph Zimmermann, Mario Vrancic, Moritz Leitner, Tom Trybull, Timm Klose, Onel Hernandez and Patrick Roberts.

Manchester City have been hit with the news that Aymeric Laporte is ruled out for the next six months having damaged his lateral meniscus. The Frenchman will require surgery and extensive therapy, joining Leroy Sane as a long-term absentee. Guardiola will however be thankful that John Stones has recovered from injury to pair up with Nicolas Otamendi in central defence. Gabriel Jesus has also been declared fit to boost City’s attacking options but Aguero’s form is likely to help him keep his starting place.
