Carrow Road

Punter's Pick

Norwich City host Sheffield United at Carrow Road in a battle between two of the promoted teams from the Championship last season. Norwich are in desperate need of a win if they are to try and maintain their top flight status, while Sheffield United have adapted well and sit comfortably in mid-table.

Norwich City City have had a miserable campaign to date but at times have shown what they are capable, especially if they can string a run of consistent performances together. The team have the famous 3-2 win over champions City under their belt and performed well to beat Everton 2-0 a fortnight ago. They followed that up with a dominant display over Arsenal and despite being up twice through Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell, conceded twice from Aubameyang to just take a point. A loss to fellow strugglers Southampton last time out has hampered their efforts and they will need to ensure they get something from this game before the gap becomes too big. Much will rely on Todd Cantwell who has become like Jack Grealish for Villa, often instigating attacks and getting up to support Pukki. The 21 year old has hit four goals this term including two in the last three and he needs to continue if Norwich are to survive.

Sheffield United continue to defy the odds and have had an excellent season thus far. A strong backline and inventive midfield and strikeforce has propelled them upto 9th in the table with notable results such as the 1-0 win over Arsenal and 3-3 draw against Manchester United. The team lost to Newcastle last time out with Allan Saint-Maximin and Jonjo Shelvey both striking, but Chris Wilder will be happy with the endeavours of his team thus far. The Yorkshire side have a run of fixtures against teams in and around them in the table and will be confident of getting results that will push them towards the magic 40 point mark to ease any relegation fears.

In team news, Norwich will be without Timm Klose, Josip Drmic and Grant Hanley. Alexander Tettey is likely to come back into the starting 11 having started on the bench last time out. Teemu Pukki is again expected to lead the line with Todd Cantwell supporting.

Sheffield United may look to bring back David McGoldrick and Lys Mousset into the starting lineup, with both named on the subs bench against Newcastle. Chris Wilder stated during his press conference that he had a fully fit squad to choose from and decisions will be made to the setup of the team.

In recent years these teams have faced each other in the Championship and have had tight battles with neither team dominating the other over time. Sheffield United shaded the honours last term securing a 2-1 win at home before the game at Carrow Road finished in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Ozil Hernandez opened the scoring with Teemu Pukki doubling the lead but a Billy sharp brace ensured the teams shared the points.

Given the form of both teams, Sheffield United are rightfully installed as favourites and we feel that they provide excellent value to secure the win. Chris Wilder’s men are 11/8 with Bet365 to get all three points and given their performances and stability in the side we feel this will come through on Sunday.
