London Stadium

Punter's Pick

Lively forward Sebastien Haller will be eyeing more goals after getting off the mark last week against Watford, and can be backed at 4/1 to open the scoring, or 20/21 to score anytime, both odds with Bet365. Norwich might be worth a punt to get a draw with a +1 goal handicap, available at 10/3, again with Bet365.

West Ham welcome newly promoted Norwich City to the London Stadium on Saturday, in what is likely to be an entertaining encounter with both teams looking stronger in attack than defence.

Hammers in good shape for a winning run?

After the disappointment of an opening day thrashing against Manchester City, the Hammers have bounced back pretty quickly, picking up a point away at Brighton followed by all three points against Watford, again away from home. A midweek Carabao Cup victory against Newport County gave them back to back victories, and with this home fixture against Norwich City followed by a trip to another newly promoted side Aston Villa to follow, the Hammers will sense a chance to put together a string of victories.

With record signing Sebastien Haller also getting off the mark with a brace against Watford last weekend, West Ham fans also got the first glimpse of the forward they hope will be leading their line for many seasons to come. The Frenchman looked a real livewire against the Hornets, and looks like he will give the Hammers a real cutting edge to complement their tidy approach play and host of technicians in midfield.

Norwich looking up for the fight

With surprise package Teemu Pukki leading the line and topping the goal scoring charts so far this season, Norwich look like they are up for the fight of staying in the Premier League and can at least ruffle the feathers of more established sides. A 4-1 defeat at Liverpool on the opening day of the season was quickly forgotten as they brushed aside Newcastle United 3-1 at home, and they were unlucky to go down 3-2 at home to Chelsea last time out.

The Canaries have shown in the early stages of the season they have the firepower to try and blast their way clear of the relegation dogfight, but their seriously leaky defence already looks to be of concern for manager Daniel Farke. Eight goals conceded in three games hints that Norwich will be a team that will be entertaining to watch, but rarely does a newly promoted side with an inability to keep clean sheets survive in the top flight.

Team News

Michail Antonio limped out of the midweek Carabao Cup win for West Ham, in a side that featured ten changes from the victory over Watford. Jack Wilshere made a goalscoring return and will be pushing for a place in the starting XI, whilst Javier Hernandez should be back from a knee problem to take a spot on the bench, with Sebastien Haller unlikely to be making way for the Mexican.

Norwich went one better than West Ham and made eleven changes for their Carabao Cup defeat against Crawley Town, and their embarrassing defeat was compounded by knocks picked up Timm Klose and Christoph Zimmerman, with both defenders facing a spell on the sidelines.

Hammers to have enough class

With both sides likely to revert to their strongest XI after contrasting midweek Carabao Cup fortunes, West Ham will feel they have enough quality and class to overcome a spirited Norwich side. Frenchmen Sebastien Haller in particular will be licking his lips at the prospect of the Premier League’s leakiest defence visiting the London Stadium, and it is difficult to see the Canaries outscoring West Ham in their own backyard.
