Bramhall Lane

Punter's Pick

Palace look a generously priced 19/10 to come away with all three points, and should be backed at this price with Bet365. Both teams looked short of attacking ideas on the opening day of the season, so 2.5 goals and under at Evens with Bet365 should also be explored.

Newly promoted Sheffield United play their first home Premier League fixture of the season as they take on a Crystal Palace side that excelled on their travels last season.

Zaha affair behind Eagles?

The hot topic come Sunday will focus once again on Wilfried Zaha and his current state of mind, and the ability to reintegrate him with his teammates. With a move to Arsenal and Everton both falling through, the Ivorian needs to quickly put the summer debacle behind him and focus on getting back to his best to keep himself in the shop window for January, should a move still be on the cards.

Without Zaha’s pace and trickery last weekend, Palace rarely looked like breaching Everton’s defence in a tame 0-0 draw, with the winger coming on for a late cameo but not looking full match fit at any stage. With Palace mostly dependent on big performances from Zaha for keeping them afloat last season, either the mercurial talisman will need to find his best form and fast, or others around him need to step up. Otherwise it could prove to be another difficult season staving off the threat of relegation rather than pushing on for a top 10 position.

Blades look to build on encouraging start

With a seemingly unified squad sprinkled with clever new signings, there are no such problems for Chris Wilder’s team, with the Blades already up and running this campaign with a credible 1-1 draw away at Bournemouth on the opening day of the season. With veteran lower league marksman Billy Sharp finding the net, the Blades showed that an all out manic splashing of cash is not necessarily the way forward for promoted teams, as evident with Fulham’s demise last season despite a raft of high profile signings.

Backed by what will be a vociferous home crowd all season, the Blades will view these types of games in which they must pick up points on a consistent basis if they are to stand a chance of staying in the top flight.

Team News

Blades boss Chris Wilder has a fully fit squad to choose from, and may elect to start with the same XI which gained a useful point last time out, meaning goalscorer Billy Sharp may have to start from the bench again.

Eagles manager Roy Hodgson must decide whether to recall Wilfried Zaha for his first start of the season, whilst the versatile Jeffrey Schlupp is fit after an ankle problem. The Eagles continue to have problems in central defence, with James Tomkins remaining out with a groin problem and fellow central defender Mamadou Sakho is not yet match-fit after knee surgery dating back to last season.

Another Eagles away day smash and grab?

With nine away wins last season, Palace were amongst the top six travellers in the Premier League, and will no doubt fancy their chances of picking up their first win of the new season at Bramall Lane. Much will depend if Wilfried Zaha is fit to start and is anything near his best form – if he is than the Eagles can certainly spoil the party atmosphere that will no doubt be on display.
