Bramall Lane

Punter's Pick

Liverpool start this game as strong favourites and bookmaker odds reflect this. Therefore the value lies in other markets with Bet365 offering 4/6 for over 2.5 goals. This market has materialised in all of Liverpool’s Premier League games this season and with Sheffield United’s attacking style, this market has a real chance of materialising. For more enhanced odds, you can back over 2.5 goals in the game and a Liverpool victory at 10/11 with the same bookmaker.

Sheffield United welcome league leaders Liverpool to Bramall Lane to kick off the latest set of Premier League fixtures. United have done well since returning to the top flight and will be looking to get another victory over a team from Merseyside for the second game in a row whilst Liverpool will be looking to extend their lead to eight points to heap pressure on champions Manchester City before their game at Everton.

Sheffield United start this game in tenth position having won, drawn and lost two games each. The Blades have persisted with an attacking style which is thus far paying dividends and not being deterred by the prospect of facing the bigger clubs. A notable 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace in their first home games signalled their intent and an impressive 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge showed how much the team embody the spirit of their manager. The team were 2-0 down when a spectacular second half saw them shoot out of the blocks and score within the first few minutes of the restart through Callum Robsino and a move later in the game which culminated in a Kurt Zouma own goal. The team have continued their good form and beat Everton 2-0 last time out courtesy of an own goal from Yerry Mina and Lys Mousset. Chris Wilder will be hoping his team with home advantage can give Liverpool the same problems and take points off the Reds for the first time this season.

Liverpool come into this game with a perfect win record having won all six of their opening league games. The Reds beat Chelsea last time out courtesy of two well-worked set pieces, with Trent Alexander-Arnold lashing in a free-kick and Roberto Firmino heading in after Andy Roberston’s cross. However the leaders had to show real grit and determination to hold onto the points after a fine solo goal from N’Golo Kante led to sustained pressure in the back-end of the game. Having held out, the Reds will be confident going into this game, with many of their star players getting a break, with their mid-week Carabao Cup game primarily being played by their youngsters.

In team news, both managers will most likely make big changes from the sides that started the midweek League Cup games. Sheffield United will be sweating on the fitness of David McGoldrick who is a major doubt with a groin injury. They will however welcome back forward Billy Sharp who has completed a three game suspension.

Liverpool will have Sadio Mane available after initial concerns over a dead leg sustained during the game at Chelsea. Forward Divock Origi has also returned to training after hobbling off against Newcastle. The Reds will be without Xherdan Shaqiri with news that star goalkeeper Alisson Becker is also nearing full fitness.

These two teams last played each other over ten years ago, with the Blades earning a draw at home before losing 4-0 away. Robbie Fowler hit a brace, with Sami Hyypia and Steven Gerrard rounding off the scoring.
