Punter's Pick

Tottenham start this game as strong favourites and there isn’t much value in backing them outright. We feel that given how the team has rediscovered their scoring touch, that backing Spurs to win with a -1 goal handicap offers the best value at evens with Bet365. Heung-min Son is also priced at evens to score at any time and the odds can be boosted further by backing over 10 corners at 8/11.

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Bournemouth to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a battle between two sides currently sitting in mid-table. One point separates the teams going into this encounter and both will be hopeful of victory to help propel them up the table. Can Jose Mourinho continue his turnaround at Spurs or will Eddie Howe spoil the party?

Tottenham have certainly turned around their form and results after the arrival of Jose Mourinho as a fresh start is galvanising the team. Many players were being accused of not running for Pochettino in the last few months and the change in team dynamic and energy has been evident in their last two games. Spurs come into this fixture having beaten West Ham 3-2, a scoreline that flattered their opponents after the Lilywhites had stormed into a 3-0 lead through goals from Son, Moura and Harry Kane. The manager will have been slightly peeved at conceding two goals and this is an area that he will be looking to improve as Spurs look to push further up the table. The team followed this up with an impressive 4-2 victory over Olympiakos with Dele Alli, Harry Kane (2) and Serge Aurier all scoring to ensure Spurs progressed to the next round. Some tough upcoming fixtures will show how far the team have really come under Mourinho but it has been a good start.

Bournemouth have been struggling of late and come into this game on a run of one win in their last eight games in all competitions including four defeats. The team had a good start to the season but the inconsistencies which have plagued them in previous seasons have again come to the fore as Eddie Howe struggles to put a string of performances together. On their day Bournemouth have the personnel and flair to beat anyone, as shown by their recent 1-0 victory over Manchester United. But despite boasting the talents of Callum Wilson, Nathan Ake, Ryan Fraser and others, they cannot score enough goals to turn their many draws into wins. Recently they have lost games against those around them in the league with Newcastle winning 2-1 and Wolves beating them by the same scoreline at the Vitality Stadium. The question for the manager will be whether he sticks or twists in this one by going all out or trying to contain a reinvigorated Spurs on their home ground.

In team news Tottenham could welcome back Jan Vertonghen who was an unused substitute in midweek. Tanguy Ndombele is pushing to be part of the starting 11 having not managed to break into Mourinho’s first team as yet. Ben Davies remains out while Erik Lamela is struggling to be fit and will face a late check prior to the game.

Bournemouth will be without Simon Francis and Phillip Billing who are both out due to suspension and Eddie Howe has many injury concerns as a number of players are doubts including Josh King, David Brooks, Dominic Solanke, Andrew Surman, Charlie Daniels and Junior Stanislas.

Over the years Tottenham have dominated this fixture with Bourenmouth winning just one of their eight Premier League fixtures. Encouragingly for Cherries fans that was actually the last time these two played last season when a late Nathan Ake goal gave them all three points. However Spurs did beat them 5-0 in their home game and 4-1 before that so which Bourenmouth turns up will determine much of how this game pans out.
