Punter's Pick

Watford play host to Everton as they look to continue their amazing turnaround under Nigel Pearson. The Hornets are now equal on points with West Ham and Bournemouth and a win here could see them leave the relegation zone having occupied it for so long. Everton on the other hand will be pushing for a European place and will provide a sturdy test now they are under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti.

Watford’s turnaround under Nigel Pearson has been amazing, with the side close to pulling off an unlikely turnaround and getting out of the bottom three. The club had been in turmoil up until that point, sacking two managers in the same season. But the structure and belief that has been instilled has paid dividends and the Hornets have lost just one of their last nine competitive games. There have been some eye-catching results with the team beating Manchester United and Wolves as well as getting a draw against Spurs. The only blip has been the loss to Aston Villa in a game they were leading until Douglas Luiz cancelled out Troy Deeney and Tyrone Mings hit a late winner. But the return of Deeney has had a galvanising effect on the team and their flair players like Deulofeu who seemed to be lacking in confidence have started to flourish and they will certainly fancy their chances in taking all three points on Saturday.

Everton come into this game having won one and drawn two of their last three games and the progress under Ancelotti has been steady if not spectacular. Goals are still a concern for the Italian who will need to get the best out of so many players that cost over £35m but just one loss in their last nine league games certainly points to progress and more consistency. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin have started to dominate the frontline with Moise Kean getting his first goal in Everton colours last time out. The Toffees will be looking to the Italian to kick on and propel them up the table, especially with his fellow countryman now at the helm. It still remains to be seen what the long-term future is for star man Richarlison but a top five finish should certainly be the target until the end of the season.

In team news, Watford will be buoyed by the return of Danny Welbeck who has been sidelined for the past three months. Although this game may come too soon for him, his pace and experience will certainly be a bonus once he regains match fitness. The Hornets will however be without Ismaila Sarr, Kiko Femenia and Tom Cleverley.

Everton could welcome back former Watford player Richarlison as well as Alex Iwobi and Gylfi Sigurdsson. However Jean-Philippe Gbamin remains out.

This is a tricky fixture to call given the form and talent that each side possesses. Watford will look to be rugged and physical with Everton more likely to want to play through their opponents. GIven the ability of both teams to cancel each other out, we feel that backing the under 2.5 goals market with Bet365 offers the best value. The current price is 4/5 with this result materialising in their last three fixtures. The reverse fixture earlier in the season saw Everton take the points courtesy of a Bernard strike and it is likely to be just as intense this time around.
