Punter's Pick

Watford to win at 4/6 with Bet365 looks to be good value and even a much changed home side should still be backed to triumph at this price. Fulham are usually in need of a helping handicap either home or away and their best chance of success here is a draw with a +2 handicap, available at an enticing 15/4 with Bet365.

Watford take on increasingly doomed looking Fulham in a London Derby that may be low on intensity with the home side having one eye on the FA Cup Semi Final on Sunday.

Fulham’s wretched campaign coming to a welcome close

With just six games to go of a dreadful return to the Premier League, Fulham will have plenty of pondering to do this summer as they adjust to life back in the Championship. With over £100m in new players and accompanying salaries to contend with, interim manager Scott Parker (if he gets the role full time) will have plenty to keep him busy, with a clutch of players likely to leave to help balance the books.

Fulham’s problems are well documented – eight straight league defeats all but extinguishing any hopes of a great escape from the relegation zone, and going further back just one win and three points in their last fourteen games. On the road they have the worse record in the Premier League, mustering just two points in sixteen games, the type of form not likely to give Watford many sleepless nights.

Watford keep on picking up points

Fulham’s opponents on the other hand, go into this game in good spirits despite a 2-1 defeat on the weekend to Manchester United. The scoreline flattered the Red Devils, as woeful finishing in the final third cost Watford the chance to pick up a deserved point, if not all three. Watford’s recent defeats have all come to teams from the top six, and you would have go back to December 1st 2018 for the last time they suffered a loss to a team outside of the top six, a 2-0 loss to Leicester City.

Clearly the challenge for Javi Gracia’s men next season is to start finding a way of turning good performances against the big teams into tangible points. Too often this season they have put in a good performance only to come away empty handed, as witnessed by the series of narrow 2-1 defeats against Manchester City and United, Tottenham and Chelsea this campaign.

Team News

With one eye on the FA Cup Semi Final against Wolves at the weekend, Javi Gracia could hardly be blamed for rotating his squad and giving fringe players another chance to shine. Watford made seven changes in their league game preceding their Quarter Final clash and Gracia is likely to rest key players such as Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu.

Fulham are sweating on the fitness of Aleksandar Mitrovic, who missed the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City through injury. Without him the side looked totally toothless, hardly surprising as the starting XI only had a combined seven league goals between them.

Changed Watford should still have too much
