Arsenal v Bournemouth

Premier League: Wed, 27/02  Stadium: Emirates Stadium

vs.

Although Bournemouth have given Arsenal problems in the past, it is difficult to look past an Arsenal victory, especially given their form at home. With Bournemouth struggling to string results together, we definitely don’t feel like they will start on Wednesday night. Arsenal are currently priced at 4/9 with Bet365 and this may still be worth backing big, given their strength at home. Over 2.5 goals is at 8/15 with the same bookmaker and this is a result that has materialised in the last five games between the two, so again another market worth backing strongly.

Arsenal welcome Bournemouth to The Emirates having regained their position in the top four after beating Southampton 2-0 at home. Bournemouth will not be easy opponents however, as they managed to buck a losing streak by gaining a 1-1 home draw against high-flying Wolves on the weekend.

Unai Emery will be much happier heading into this fixture as they once have again have their Champions League qualification destiny in their own hands, and they will need to go on a winning streak as Manchester United continue to impress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Arsenal’s home form has been the key to them keeping pacing in the top four and they will be looking to add to their tally of 11 wins out of 14 games when they take on Bournemouth. Arsenal’s recent form have been somewhat patchy, having lost four out of their last nine games in all competition. In that time they have been knocked out of the FA Cup and had to rely on an impressive reverse in the Europa League, having lost their away leg at BATE Borisov. But having overturned that deficit in a 3-0 victory, The Gunners ran out comfortable winners against Southampton, with goals from Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Bournemouth are still searching for their first victory after their impressive 4-0 win over Chelsea, having lost to Wolves and Cardiff in that time. Some momentum was wrestled back after Josh King’s penalty seemed to put them on course for victory against Wolves, only for Wolves to equalise through Raul Jimenez’s penalty. It isn’t an easy run for Eddie Howe’s men as they face champions Manchester City next, so any points in this fixture will surely be a bonus for The Cherries.

Bournemouth certainly did push Arsenal in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, having gone down to an unfortunate own goal before Josh King levelled. But Aubameyang’s 67th minute winner was enough to help Arsenal take all three points. The Cherries can also look back to last season when they managed to win 2-1 and their fast attacking style of play has been known to cause the Arsenal backline problems. With injuries taking their toll on Arsenal, the like of Jordan Ibe, Josh King and Ryan Fraser will certainly fancy their chances against an ageing Arsenal defence.

In team news, Arsenal will be hoping Stefan Lichtsteiner will be fit to play, as well as  Ainsley Maitland-Niles who could be back from illness. However one of Arsenal’s bright sparks, Alex Iwobi is likely to miss out after picking up a knock in the last game against Southampton.

Bournemouth are again going to be without star striker Callum Wilson and David Brooks, and a late call is likely to be made on the fitness of Junior Stanislas. But Eddie Howe still believe his team have enough to cause Arsenal problems and potentially win all three points.
