Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Premier League: Sun, 21/04  Stadium: Emirates Stadium

vs.

Although Arsenal have performed better in this fixture over the years, there have been many close games between the two and the reverse fixture ended in a 2-2 draw. Luka Milivojević scored two penalties either side of strikes from Granit Xhaka and Aubameyang. This showed that they do have the personnel to hold the Gunners and therefore it is difficult to say that Arsenal will be almost certs for victory. Given their home form it is still tempting to back them at 8/15 with Bet365 with over 2.5 goals being offered at the same price.

Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates as they continue their quest for a top four finish and Champions League qualification next season. Although Palace have practically guaranteed their safety, Roy Hodgson will be looking to finish the season strongly with a view to seeing who could be part of his plans next season.

Arsenal go into this fixture having won six out of their last seven fixtures in all competitions including two impressive victories over Napoli in the Europa League. The team currently occupy the fourth Champions League spot sitting equal on points with Chelsea, who have played a game more. This will be a real opportunity to cement their hold on fourth spot by both opening up a three point gap as well as increasing their goal difference over the Blues. Arsenal will be confident going into fixture having conceded just once in their last seven home games and dropping just seven points at home all season.

Crystal Palace won’t be deterred by the Gunners’ home record as they themselves have gained more points on the road than at home. Having beaten Manchester City on their own patch, they know they have the quality to go to any ground and gain a result. The key will be whether Hodgson can keep his squad motivated before the end of the season as they have all but guaranteed their survival in the Premier League and don’t have much to play for.

In team news, Arsenal will be sweating on the fitness of Welsh star Aaron Ramsey, who could have played his last game for the Gunners having suffered a hamstring injury against Napoli. Sokratis is suspended and Granit Xhaka and Denis Suarez will both be assessed prior to the game.

Crystal Palace will be without Jeffrey Schlupp who misses the rest of the season and they also remain without Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins. Otherwise Hodgson could persist with much of the same team that lost to Manchester City last time out with the exception of Michy Batshuayi coming in for Christian Benteke.
