Everton v Chelsea Betting

Premier League: Sun, 17/03  Stadium: Goodison Park

vs.

Chelsea have had the better of this fixture in recent times, with Everton last winning during the 2015/16 season. However the reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge and this certainly will give Everton confidence heading in to this game. However the contrast in form recently will give Chelsea the edge in this fixture. We feel the 19/20 odds offered by Bet365 for a Chelsea victory are generous. The last game was also littered in cards (7) and placing a punt at 10/11 for over 3.5 cards also looks good with the same bookmaker.

Everton host Chelsea with the Toffees looking to continue their push for a top half finish, with Chelsea looking to secure their qualification in to next season’s Champions League. The game however holds a greater significance for both managers who have been under the spotlight for different reasons this season. Marco Silva will be looking to keep the wolves at bay with Maurizio Sarri looking to quieten any rumblings that he has lost the dressing room.

Everton were recently praised for their display against rivals Liverpool and keeping the Reds relatively quiet in their 0-0 draw at the start of the month. Everton entered that game on the back of five losses in seven games, but were barely troubled by the Premier League contenders. That seemed to have been a turning point as the Toffees lead 2-0 in their following game against Newcastle, only for Salomon Rondon and an Ayoze Perez double to sink them. This has left Everton’s season at risk of petering out as there is no silverware to play for and they are safe against threats of relegation. Marco Silva will be hoping for a strong finish to the season to ensure his own management style is endorsed and that he will be here for next season.

Chelsea have done well in turning their results around after the 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup and the astonishing scene in the League Cup final when Kepa refused to be substituted. Chelsea have gone five games unbeaten in all competitions since the final loss winning four games in the process. An impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham and a 5-0 thrashing of Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League has got their season back on track and Sarri must be praised for turning around their fortunes when it looked as if he would go at one point.

In team news, Everton will be looking to welcome back Seamus Coleman who is set to return after an illness kept him out of the game against Newcastle. His fellow full-back Leighton Baines is also back in contention but Phil Jagielka remains a huge doubt and Kurt Zouma is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Chelsea will be looking to make a raft of changes with key personnel being rested for the midweek game against Dynamo Kiev. Gonzalo Higuain is likely to come back and lead the line despite Olivier Giroud’s hattrick. Belgian talisman Eden Hazard is also likely to return alongside Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz.
