Liverpool v Leicester

Premier League: Wed, 30/01  Stadium: Anfield

vs.

With such pace and attacking flair on the pitch for both teams, there are likely to be plenty of fouls and subsequently cards in this fixture. Bet365 are offering 4/6 on over 2.5 cards which has come in over their last four fixtures. In fact the last couple of games have seen at least five, so this is very likely to materialise. A fast paced game also makes the corner count look enticing and with over 10 corners at 4/5 being offered by Bet365, we think this also offers great value.

Liverpool welcome Leicester to Anfield knowing that their lead at the top could be down to one point prior to kickoff if City beat Newcastle on Tuesday night. The expectation of a first title in 29 years and the constant pressure of City breathing down their necks will make this a nervy night for The Reds, who play a Leicester side that have already shocked champions City earlier in the season.

After their defeat to Man City, Liverpool needed to ensure they bounced back quickly and managed to grind out a 1-0 win away at Brighton. However their last display showed their attacking class but also a vulnerability in defence for the first time this season. With injuries to key personnel in defence, Liverpool conceded three to Crystal Palace although still managed to win the game 4-3 thanks to a brace from Mo Salah. However the game was marred by James MIlner being sent off.

Leicester on the other hand sit comfortably in 9th place but feelings of discontent towards manager Claude Puel has many wondering who will be at the helm moving forward. Playing star man Jamie Vardy out of position certainly hasn’t endured Puel to the fans or the player himself, but the Leicester players have still risen to the occasion and come away with many memorable wins this season. Winning against champions City and then Chelsea on the bounce was testament that Leicester with Vardy at the helm could take on anybody. An away victory at Everton also followed soon after.

In team news, Liverpool will welcome back Georginio Wijnaldum which has proved very timely after James Milner picked up a red card against Palace and is due to sit this one out. The game has also come too soon for Alexander-Arnold as he misses out with a knee injury. Joe Gomez also misses out having suffered a setback in his recovery. It will remain to be seen if Klopp decides to keep Matip and Van Dijk in defence or whether Fabinho will slot back in alongside the Dutchman. The front three however almost pick themselves and Liverpool will be hoping for a more assured defensive display against the Foxes.

Leicester will be looking to start with star defender Harry Maguire despite him being treated for a leg injury. James Maddison will also be vying for a starting berth having started on the bench in their 4-3 loss at Wolves with Jamie Vardy likely to lead the line.

Leicester’s last league victory over Liverpool came almost two years ago as the Reds have had the better of this fixture in recent times. Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino saw Liverpool run out 2-1 winners at the King Power Stadium earlier in the season. At home Liverpool have been dominant and remain unbeaten in the league, so this certainly will be a difficult day for the Foxes.
