vs.

With the odds of an outright united victory of little value, Bet365 are offering 4/6 for a -1 handicap, with United needing to win by two goals or more. Alternatively an over 2.5 goals for United looks very attractive at even money (1/1) given the amount of goals United have scored in recent games and the fixture being at home for The Red Devils.

High-flying Manchester United host Burnley on Tuesday and they will be looking to make it 9 wins in a row in all competitions. Burnley on the other hand will be lucky to take anything out of this game having been thumped 5-0 against Manchester City in their last game in the Cup.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitting that he would relish the top job at Old Trafford permanently, he certainly wouldn’t expect his chances to be derailed by a Burnley team languishing just above the relegation zone. Having come through what many perceived as the games to undo Solskjaer’s blistering start against Tottenham and Arsenal, United won those games by getting their tactics spot on and with both victories coming on the road. With The Red Devils playing with such freedom and their ability to dismantle Arsenal in their last game by starting with Lukaku and Sanchez who haven’t featured recently, the future looks rosy with four fully fit and fully motivated forwards. With the resurgence of Paul Pogba’s form, the crowd will be wondering how many goals the team will score as opposed to whether they will win or not.

Burnley on the other hand will feel that games such as this won’t be the ones to define their season and whether they survive, Those tests will come against teams in and around them in the table, however Sean Dyche certainly will want to ensure his team don’t take a beating such as at City which could leave the team demotivated for their upcoming fixtures. Having put together a run of three league victories and a draw, The Clarets were able to drag themselves out of the relegation zone. Those displays showed some of the hallmarks of last season when Burnley proved so effective and secured a 7th place league finish.

Chris Smalling could return to the United team after recovering from a knock, with Marcos Rojo also a possibility. United will have all four forwards to choose from and will buoyed by the fact that Solskjaer’s tenure has had the same galvanising effect on Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku as the rest of the team, with both in inspired form in their 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Cup.

Burnley should be able to welcome back Phil Bardsley who was recovering from a knock which kept him out of the game at City. However Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Walters remain sidelined with long term injuries.

Burnley certainly haven’t had the best record against United, not winning in their last 8 meetings and winning just once in their last 26. With United finally playing the type of football typified under Sir Alex Ferguson, it is likely to be a very long evening for The Clarets.
