Watford v Everton

Premier League: Sat, 09/02  Stadium: Vicarage Road

Watford certainly have played well this season with the guile offered by Deulofeu and the power of Troy Deeney up front. Bet365 are offering 13/10 on a Watford victory which we think is good value. Over 10 corners is also a good bet at evens (1/1), and this looks like a good pick considering it has materialised in the last two games these two teams have played.

Watford welcome Everton to Vicarage Road with The Hornets winless in their last three Premier League games and Everton coming in off the back of their midweek loss to champions Manchester City. Both teams will be looking to get back to winning ways as they battle for a top half finish this season.

Watford have been one of the surprises of the season, having won their first five games in all competitions. However their form has been patchy of late, with three wins in their last nine games. The team done well to get an away draw at Brighton last time out after being deflated in losing away at Spurs in a game they really should have won. Two goals in the last ten minutes saw to it that Watford came away with nothing from Wembley, however Javi Gracia will feel confident in turning around his teams form against an under-pressure Everton side.

The Toffees come in to this game having lost five out of their last six in all competitions amidst mounting pressure on manager Marco Silva. In a twist of fate, his former club Watford could be responsible for piling on even more misery, which could lead to continued chants for Silva to be replaced. Fans will be concerned not only at the lack of victories, but also their displays as Wolves recently comfortably outplayed their hosts, with Everton capitulating to a 3-1 defeat. A 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Millwall has left Toffees fans with little to look forward to and cheer for the remainder of the season.

In team news, Leighton Baines missed the game against City with a rib injury and this could rule him out for this game also. Yerry Mina is expected to be back in action this month with Phil Jagielka the only other long term absentee.

For Watford, key midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure remains a doubt having picked up an injury. He is being assessed day by day and it is unknown when he could be set to feature, despite there being some stories circulating about a January departure. There aren’t many other concerns ahead of this game for Jabvi Gracia.

In recent head to heads, it has been fairly even, with the teams playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw earlier in the season. With Watford seemingly on course for a win, full back Lucas Digne popped up with a 90th minute winner to deny Watford the spoils. Both teams tasted victory in the two fixtures last season so this game is historically a difficult one to pick.

However, given Everton’s woeful run and the discontent circulating around Goodison Park, Watford are likely to start this game as slight favourites in our eyes. Marco Silva didn’t start some of his big guns including Richarlison and Sigurdsson against City, with one eye most likely on this game. Unfortunately for Toffees fans, even with their inclusion in previously games, Everton have struggled to penetrate the opposition and score the goals required.

Watford certainly have played well this season with the guile offered by Deulofeu and the power of Troy Deeney up front. Bet365 are offering 13/10 on a Watford victory which we think is good value.
