Watford v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Premier League: Sat, 27/04  Stadium: Vicarage Road

vs.

With two evenly matched teams it is difficult to pick a winner. However, we feel that there is good value on Wolves who are currently priced at 19/10 by Bet365 for victory. As Watford have no Deeney and with one eye on the final, this may be the perfect game for Wolves to exact revenge for their two defeats this season. If you wish to hedge your bets, you can go with a Wolves ‘win or draw’ at 1/2 or ‘draw no bet’ which is priced at evens. This is also a combative fixture and over 3.5 cards is well priced at 6/5.

Two teams that have been the Premier League’s success stories meet at Vicarage Road in what promises to be an exciting clash. Watford play host to Wolves in a game that could decide the ‘best of the rest’ spot outside the top six, with both teams preparing for a final push to what has been excellent seasons.

Watford go into this game in patchy form, having not strung consecutive victories together since the middle of February. In their last ten games they have won and lost four with two draws (one of those draws was in fact a victory in the cup games in extra-time). But they managed a last gasp equaliser against Southampton courtesy of Andre Gray and a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield courtesy of a Gerard Deulofeu brace. It remains to be seen if the Hornets have one eye on the FA Cup Final against Manchester City as the manager must be pondering changes to ensure his key players remain fit for the big showpiece.

Wolves are buzzing on the back of their 3-1 victory over Arsenal, which saw an amazing first-half blitz deliver three goals from Ruben Neves, Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota. They also secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester United recently so will be in confident mood going in to this one. They will also be eager to exact a degree of revenge as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Watford at the semi-final stage.

In team news, Watford have no fresh injury concerns coming into this game. They will however be without club captain Troy Deeney as he serves the final game of his suspension. Having played two games in four days will pose a conundrum for Javi Gracia as he will need to decide on whether to push for victory with his main players or to rotate with one eye on the cup final. He knows that if his team lose against Manchester City, then the team finishing seventh will be given a Europa League place instead.

Nuno Espirito Santo will most likely keep as many of the same starting 11 that lined up against Arsenal. Santo has maintained a consistent side, primarily due to resources, which has seen the likes of Matt Doherty, Joao Moutinho and Raul Jimenez feature in every game this season. However this level of continuity could also serve to maintain the consistency in performance the players need, with Wolves far surpassing expectations in battling for a place in Europe this season.

The two teams have already met twice this year, with Watford holding the edge over their opponents. Two quick-fire goals from Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra gave Watford all three points in the reverse fixture at Molineux and they were victorious in the aforementioned FA Cup semi-final when am extra-time goal from Gerard Deulofeu secured their passage to the final. Wolves were twice ahead in that game, with a last minute penalty from Troy Deeney sending the game into extra-time.
